great find, our room had everything we wanted with a few little extra treats which was a nice touch, The main bar area with its log fires also serves the local community which we really found gave the bar a great atmosphere and buzz, on our first night we ended up staying in the bar all evening and eating there, The Bath Arms also has a great restaurant for those wanting a quiet evening could not fault the food, plenty to choice, also added benefit a short walk to cheddar caves, this one is definitely on the return list, thanks to all the staff who made us feel very welcome

We had a very good stay at the Bath Arms Hotel, staff were very helpful and polite made you feel very welcome. Rooms were very clean and spacious. The one thing that they didn't have was a mobile phone charging facilities in the room. The meals were good and so were the breakfasts.

I've stayed here a few times - it's a great pub (restaurant) and a nice hotel. Given its location and the age of the windows (and the fact they cannot be replaced) you do get some road noise but that is to be expected. The rooms are clean and spacious and the breakfast is great. The food in the restaurant is top notch.

This trip was our second visit staying in The Baths Arms hotel overnight and we have nothing to complain about. Myself and my partner have been coming to Cheddar for 5 years and we always stop by for a spot of lunch but the past 2 years we have decided to a stay. The rooms are clean and bright, the staff are very friendly and the drinks and food in the bar/restaurant is fantastic. We look forward to returning to The Bath Arms in the future!

Right from the start the service was excellent. We received a warm welcome with lots of info on places to visit. We had dinner in the restaurant and all three courses were excellent. Really tasty, well presented and again, excellent service. We had the Nightingale room and were a bit dismayed that theour 'superior' double had the kitchen extractors firing out at our window. However they went off at about 10pm and didn't come on until 7.30am, so they weren't too disruptive at all. The bed was very comfy, the toiletries lovely and the bath was huge!I would definitely book to stay again if we re-visit this beautiful part of the country.

The hotel is lovely, the rooms are clean and airy, cleaned and re-stocked every day. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the area is lovely. Only suggestion would be a recommendation list in the room of things to do.

We stayed here on the recommendation of previous reviewers. The Bath Arms certainly lived up to our expectations. Our room was lovely, food excellent and staff looked after us very well indeed. One little niggle:during the night the heating went off completely, leaving the ensuite bathroom towel rail as the sole source of heat for the bedroom. In early January that wasn't quite enough! We mentioned this at breakfast next morning and an additional duvet was provided by lunchtime.

Had an impressive two night stay over New Year. Ate in the restaurant both nights and were very taken with the quality and variety of the dishes. Particularly enjoyed the Asian influence in some of the specials. Breakfasts were superb, with a large choice from the menu. .The staff were so professional as well as friendly and the service was of a high standard throughout, with some thoughtful touches- we were offered water for our journey home.It is a lovely old building, refurbished to a good standard, but we would recommend earplugs as suggested in the welcome letter. The heating in the room was variable and appeared to be off altogether on our first evening.

Did a late booking on Xmas eve for New Year break [30 &31 December] including restaurant. What a gem this place is, staff couldnt be more accommodating and friendly, lovely building in great location. The real stars are in the restaurant, the kitchen staff pulled out all of the stops to adapt as many of the dishes as possible to accomodate my wifesallergy [dairy], very few establishments have gone this far before and it made her feel very comfortable.I would recommend this place to anyone, it was great [and i didnt even mention the room, it was clean and spacious -- all that you could want from a room]Good food ---- good service ----- good room---- good value -- what more??will return

We had a room at the front of the hotel, so were a little disturbed by the traffic noise. I imagine this could be more of a problem during the summer if windows were open. We only had 1 chair in our room. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Staff were very friendly &helpful.

We were so happy we chose the Bath Arms Hotel to stay at for our early Christmas Break. We arrived to find a nice sized car park, very welcoming staff, a lovely bar area, a good sized double room which was immaculately tidy. The food... WOW. It was certainly delicious and a cut above the rest. We usually try different places over a weekend away, but we decided straight away that we’d be staying put for the duration. Well done all who looked after us.. you are all a credit and we will return again soon. Best wishes and thank you all..

We decided to stay here as it was a convenient midway point for an old friends meet up. We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. There was a lovely atmosphere throughout. Being in the accommodation business myself you could tell that whoever was in charge wanted their guests to feel valued. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed and extra pillows if needed. There were plenty of toiletries, fluffy towels and quality toilet tissue! Tea making facilities were provided with a good choice of beverages, along with extremely yummy biscuits. Bottled water and nibbles were also provided which was an added bonus. We ate in the restaurant and dinner was a triumph. One of the specials (a lamb dish) was an all round hit and the batter on my fish was just divine. There was a good choice on the wine list. Compliments to the chef!Breakfast was just as good with an excellent choice. Having good quality jams/marmalades etc on the table always sets the tone.Plenty of parking too.We will be recommending to others and hope to return (as a couple) when we need to travel to Bristol Airport again.

We loved the decor of the whole place along with great atmosphere. The food was incredible and staff could not be more helpful catering to our needs. We would definitely come back again. The location was great as very close to the gorge, the city of wells, street and less than an hour from Longleat, so plenty of options for day trips whilst there. All in all a wonderful weekend away

Lovely hotel within walking distance of the gorge. The hotel is tastefully decorated, the bathrooms luxurious and the beds large and comfortable. The evening meals/menu are superb and the breakfasts also very good. We booked the hotel originally because of its no dog policy, there are dogs in the bar but not in the restaurant fortunately.Avoid the kingfisher room as it is badly appointed and is really noisy from the kitchen extraction unit.

Our 4 night stay was brilliant. The staff were so genuinely pleasant, making time to ask how each day out went for us. Our 1st night meal was in the Bath Arms restaurant, where the food was very high quality. The staff recommended other local restaurants for our remaining nights out, which was generous of them to do. We will definitely be going back there on our travels, as the Hotel and staff really made our week special. Plenty of places to visit for days out.

The room was spotless and comfortable, the atmosphere was friendly and accommodating and the breakfast are truly the best we have ever had. We will be back and continuing to recommend to friends. Our only criticism is the noise from the traffic on the road but the owners have taken that on board by offering ear plugs and can’t do much more than that due to the limitations because of the age of the building.

Staff were friendly and polite, food was fantastic and well priced, local beer and cider on tap were all great (especially the silly cider!!). Rooms are massively underpriced. When I was asked where i would like to go for my birthday the Bath Arms was the only place I wanted to go. So we booked, and even with a 7 month gap from our first visit we were welcomed with that fantastic warmth we had been before! The food was again outstanding, and the room was beautiful with an amazing waterfall shower. Breakfast was beautiful and we were sent on our travels with a complimentary bottle of water each! We would definitely recommend The Bath Arms Hotel as an ideal place to stay in Cheddar. It seems to be popular with locals and holiday makers, making it busy and alive which we expected from a stay in a public house. The rooms were clean and inviting with a lovely big bathroom and bed. The complimentary snacks and water were a nice touch. TheOwners were very friendly as were all the staff that we came into contact with. Breakfast was very good and the evening menu in the evening was varied and appetising. Parking was easy and the hotel is situated away from the tourist strip but an easy short walk. We will certainly stay here again if we are in Cheddar.

Thoroughly enjoyed our recent two night stay celebrating my partner's birthday. The staff on arrival and during our stay were terrific, friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food especially breakfasts were the best we have had. We stayed in Little Robin, room was exceptionally clean, well thought out and bed very comfy. We chose to stay during hottest June in 40 years, yes the rooms were hot but fans provided. The traffic noise was quite disturbing but expected, ear plugs in room were a nice touch. Thank you for a lovely stay

Our room was spacious, beautiful and comfortable and the bathroom was clean big and beautiful. The toiletries provided were of a high quality and extra touches in the room like little jars of peanuts and jellies and tea/coffee with biscuits were very much appreciated. I first thought this would be just a pub with accommodation but I was so wrong. I would highly recommend this place and the next time I will be booking into this place without hesitation

Have known the place for a while and enjoyed lunching there. This time we stayed - had a relaxed and enjoyable evening meal, the room was well appointed and finished, the bed comfortable, the bathroom slightly on the cold side (local planning regulations mean older metal windows). Breakfast was especially good and the coffee well up with the best.

There are a few hotels to choose from in Cheddar and I picked this one based on the location and reviews though I wasn't to sure what to expect with it being a pub. Upon arrival we were shown to our room by Jaqui the owner(nice personal touch) Beautiful large clean room, nicely furnished. Most importantly the food is phenomanal, if you stay you must have dinner there. All the staff were brilliant and I look forward to going back at some point.

Great food (and far too much of it!) for breakfast (inclusive) and dinner - we ate in the hotel on each of the four nights we stayed there. I think also worth more than a mention are the staff - all staff we encountered in the bar and the restaurant were extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay.

As quoted on Trip advisor... If anything was badly done or was then i'd say so. Trio of Beef is exquisite and hearty...a must for that charming cheese box that appears to clense the palate washed down with that zesty bottle from Loire Valley. My partner and myself could not fault and believe to date this is the best Public House/ Hotel we have ever stayed in. Fortunate to be graced and served by the Bath Arms owner, well presented and catereed for. The staff and more so the Chef are most friendly and they are quick to home in on their guests with recognition. A massive well done for a magical weekend and eternal thank you for looking after us. We will be returning as those rooms are an inviting and pleasant retreat as is your establishment. No need to venture far.

We spent 3 nights at the Bath Arms Hotel, Cheddar and am pleased to say that we were delighted with the attention, accommodation, value for money and superb food. We chose to have our evening meal every night after the first night persuaded us it would be difficult to find such quality elsewhere in Cheddar. Portions are enormous and a bit of planning was needed to leave enough room for all 3 courses! Don't be afraid, if you are looking for accommodation and quality food, cooked to order, book the Bath Arms Hotel - you won't be disappointed.

Both were beautifully clean, well furnished and very comfortable with extra little touches such as complementary sparkling and still water, an assortment of teas, coffee and hot chocolate, sweets, nuts and shower gel, hand gel, shampoo and body lotion. The breakfast and the evening meals were outstanding with an excellent selection and all well presented and hot!I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

Excellent stay, from friendly staff to clean and modern room. Really lovely hotel 10 mins walk from cheddar gorge attractions. One good thing for my wife was a plug near to the mirror and dressing table to plug hairdryer in. Quite logical you'd think, but so many places don't have plug near mirror! thoroughly recommended

The food is excellent and the rooms stylish. Loved the bathroom with its quirky shower. The bar has some decent draft beer and there is a skittles alley for the competitive. My wife and I booked the Bath Arms Hotel and took our friends with us. The hotel itself looked great on the internet but was so much better in the flesh. The rooms were lovely and very big, the breakfast was lovely but most importantly the entire staff were brilliant and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we were even lent an umbrella for the day as it rained on the Saturday morning. Add all this to the wonderful surroundings of Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole and the hotels proximity to both and you have one wonderful weekend. We will without doubt go back and stay at the Bath Arms again and have already recommended it to our family and friends. Thanks to all for a lovely stay. Ian Lewis Leicester.

For the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and valued as individuals.Check-in was painless, then we were given directions to our lovely room upstairs with the imaginative name of Sleepy Swift. The room was well-presented and the bathroom had some olde-worlde plumbing in fabulous condition and fitting with the rest of the establishment. At the evening meal we felt as though we were valued customers, the meal was delicious ( Rod had steak with all the trimmings and I had an excellent beef pie)and breakfast the next day was included in the tarrif and was obviously freshly cooked. My eggs with their bendict sauce ad spinach were wonderful, as was Rod's cooked breakfast.Would definitely recommend.

To celebrate this special occasion we decided to visit North Devon for a few days and then onto Salcombe to meet one of our daughters plus husband and grand daughter. We were travelling in our classic MG and therefore thought a stop after 180 miles would be a good idea plus the fact we have always wanted to visit Cheddar. We therefore booked a stop over for one night down and another on our return journey. we could not have made a better choice. Welcoming staff, delightful bedroom and great food. Plus a car park to keep the car safe.We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and perhaps even visit ourselves on another holiday.

The staff could not have been more helpful, although they did neglect to point out a side table with cereal and fruit on it at breakfast! The menu was broad-ranging and put together with care - lovely. The room was a little noisy but that's to be expected with a listed building without double glazing on a relatively busy street.I'd happily stay again.

Friendly welcome and friendly staff.Room (Cheddar Pink)excellent, as was the bathroom - with all the little bits one needs and appreciates.Comfortable bed - if I had a critisism it would be that the television is a bit high and at an angle for when watching in bed.Restaurant nicely furnished and food excellent - good menu and large portions (phew!). The breakfast selection brilliant and enough to last the day ! We ate there 3 evenings (not too much competition in the village) and each meal was different and enjoyable.Seems well patronised by locals - always a good sign.We had a fire alarm alert 3.15am one morning - rather disruptive as it seemed to be a false alarm and we'd got up, dressed etc.Still, better safe than sorry and the restaurant manager gave us a complimentary bottle of wine as a 'sorry' - nice touch and appreciated.Convenient walking distance for the Gorge and other routes out of Cheddar. Would recommend and return again if in the area.

It did get crowded during a warm sunny afternoon and evening. Plenty of car park spaces, and a large terrace at the front.Bedroom was very well decorated, clean and comfortable. There is some noise coming up from the bar but only a problem if you go to bed early.Food in the restaurant is excellent. As was breakfast. Probably one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a few! The rooms are lovely - light and airy but warm and cosy at night. The food both at dinner and breakfast was amazing, as was the service from the very warm and friendly staff. The service was caring but not intrusive and it is this, along with all the little extra touches, that really sets this hotel apart.Even if you have no reason to visit Cheddar, go so you can stay in this fabulous hotel!

A warm welcome, excellent staff and lovely rooms.Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice. A lovely touch of decorating the table for us at breakfast on our Anniversary.Excellent Dinner menu too.An ideal location for us as we wanted to visit Glastonbury, Street and the coastIts situated on the main road into Cheddar so if wanting a quiet retreat, it possibly wouldn't suit, however, we liked the idea we could walk into Cheddar and didn't mind at all.

What a find! This property is lovely, it had been refurbished back in 2014 and still feels brand new. The room was very spacious, nicely furnished, large bathroom. Breakfast was included in the room rate, made to order, which i prefer to the buffet. We also had dinner at the hotel and it was very good - beautiful presentation and delicious food.

Having lived locally it was great to see how well the Bath Arms has been improved. We needed a room for one night after selling our house and had a small "do"to say goodbye to friends and neighbours. The buffet was good value for money as well as being a good quality. The room was comfortable and well appointed and we will certainly use this venue again if we return. The staff were all friendly and helpful without being intrusive or disingenuous getting the balance absolutely right. As we were leaving Somerset to live elsewhere the experience at the Bath Arms was a good way to leave so we have a positive experience to remember our time there!

We stayed at The Bath Arms for 3 nights in their Little Robin room. The staff were cheerful and welcoming from the start. Our room was much larger than its name suggested, with fresh decor. It was pristine in its cleanliness, with a huge and comfortable bed. The bathroom was great and had a gorgeous, big shower. Again, it was stunningly clean. The breakfast was tasty and well cooked. We did not eat in the dining room:it was rather more expensive than we were requiring, but we had a couple of bar meals, which we enjoyed.

Such a lovely place to stay. Welcoming and friendly staff, large super clean rooms, Excellent choice on menus in either the bar or the restaurant, which is spotless and roomy with plenty of space between tables. The waiting staff were always busy but had the time to spendwith you and their recommendations were very good, The chefs done a perfect job on preparing and presenting meals, cooked to perfection. I even praised the manager on his staff and his input into the job with the way HE insured the tables were spotlessly clean after others had used them. Overall it has to be one of the best places I have stayed and eaten in and well worth every pound that I spent here. Don`t even look elsewhere if you need to stay in this location, save yourself the time. Well done all.

My partner and I stayed at The Bath Arms during our big cycle ride from John O'Groats to Land's End. Despite having no clear place to lock bikes up, the staff were more than happy for them to be locked up in the car park wherever we could find space, and the room was absolutely wonderful. Clean, modern and pretty luxurious! We also booked in for dinner in the restaurant, and the food was utterly delicious. Would absolutely stay there again.

Spent 3 days in August in the Bath Arms Hotel in August. The bath arms has plenty of parking and is 8 minutes walk to Cheddar gorge which saves the £5 Gorge parking charge. The Hotel was very clean and the room fresh and comfortable. The bar was friendly and had a good selection of ales and cider. The food was very good and reasonable priced. The tasty breakfast was very filling even with a choice of coffees. Only minor issue is that couple of the main meals were served on wood boards while probably trendy I much prefer a plate. The highlight of the Bath arms hotel was the staff who were very attentive, professional and friendly. The hotel is well located for touring the area an we would recommend visiting Wells cathedral although watch out for the £4 charge for taking photos. We will certainly use the Bath arms again.

We booked The Baths Arms as a stopover on our way back from Cornwall to Suffolk. After 2 weeks camping, we were very much looking forward to our "night of comfort". We were not disappointed. The superior double was excellent value and was spacious and comfortable. The en-suite was wonderful and equally spacious. The staff were very friendly and efficient and dinner in the restaurant was delicious. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel and, even taking into account the road noise, which we were prepared for based on reviews, there is very little that one could be critical of regarding our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Bath Arms Hotel. The food and service were excellent, the rooms themselves comfortable and of a high standard. Sean and Jacqui went the extra mile to make our three nights here special. Sean's breakfast coffee was divine. This hotel has our recommendation and when we visit the area again we will book the Bath Arms in Cheddar.

We spent a couple of nights at the Bath Arms prior to Easter. Although it is in the town centre we were not disturbed by the traffic outside. The Hotel has been newly refurbished to a high standard and our room was clean and very comfortable with a massive bed and fantastic shower. We ate in the restaurant both nights where the food was excellent and well presented and enjoyed some time in the skittle alley. We could not fault the Bath Arms Hotel and it is a credit to owners Sean and Jacqui who are obviously passionate about what they do so well.

It was my son In law's birthday we sent him to stay at the Bath Arms with our daughter, their reaction was, they didn't want to come home!every thing about the hotel was first class, room, food people. After a big grill in the evening, he just couldn't face food in the morning, but the staff knew they were going walking and insisted that he take a bacon sarnie with him. That what you call service. They rated the stay as 20 out of ten. I can only thank everyone at the hotel.

The breakfast was nice and we were even offered extras which was a nice touch. There were a variety of coffees that you could choose. The manager was very polite and courteous. The only minor point was the road noise as my room was at the front of the building.

My husband and I wanted to stay at a hotel near the Cheddar Gorge and the Bath Arms worked out perfectly. It has free parking and is just a 10 minute walk to the Cheddar Gorge. Our bedroom was spacious and extremely clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We ate at the Bath Arms in the evening and I must say the food was pure quality. We even enjoyed a game of skittles after our meal! Breakfast the next morning was very good. It was served to the table rather than a buffet. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and we hope to return in the not too distant future.

Wasn't expecting much as it wasn't that expensive &had only 2 stars...when we got there it was really nice the staff were great &go out of there way to be helpful.Bathroom was really big &posh..the stars rating is very misleading Its more about swimming pools &night porters but the star system can show a 2 star count for really nice places just because there is no doorman etc..This hotel has lots of free parking &easy 5 min walk to cheddar gorge shops etc..

We loved the the decor throughout the building, which is modern, elegant and understated.Bed was large and comfortable and the bathroom is beautifully done (and well maintained).(We did wonder whether the 'Bath' in the title wasn't the place but the thing:it's was huge!)The Gem Ale on draught is a great pint, and the wine menu had a good range of price and geography.Dinner alone was worth the trip - we had the venison and the duck, but only after much hand-wringing about what to order.Try the cheese for dessert, which comes in a cute little cupboard.Breakfast again came with plenty of choice and was straight out of the top-drawer.The service was great throughout too - very friendly and accommodating. In summary, we couldn't fault it.Simply perfect.

This recently refurbished hotel offers excellent service (friendly staff for whom nothing was too much trouble), comfort (inc log fire) and cuisine (ie food quality and menu which offers reduced portions at lower cost, and freshly cooked breakfast as opposed to self service cafeteria that you get in many hotels).Only downside:heating in bathroom wasn't sufficient to combat the cold January conditions.

I last spent a night in the Bath in 1991, and it was fine for a stag party;grotty and cheap.I knew from locals that it had been refurbished, so thought I'd give it a go. The transformation is amazing, to the point that it's difficult to find any fault;a good sized room, excellent bathroom, comfortable bed, and comprehensive breakfast. At £45 a head, excellent value for money.

My 12 year old daughter and I decided to visit Cheddar Gorge for a girls weekend away.We were over the moon when we arrived at The Bath Arms. Our ensuite room was just lovely, extremely comfy beds, extra pillows, fluffy towels, tea, coffee &hot chocolatebut the real surprise was the restaurant. We ate in there on both Friday and Saturday evenings. The food was cooked to perfection and sobeautifully presented that I had to send photos to jealous friends.Breakfasts breakfasts, served in the smaller snug, were equally as impressive - although full English was on the menu we went instead for pancakes with berries &creme fraiche, eggs benedict and a bacon sandwich. Ordered taken by staff and freshly cooked to order, no buffet tables here. The staff were all lovely and could not have been more welcoming. You get the impression that nothing soul be too much trouble -I was even offered a fresh take away coffee for the drive home .For a perfect break do stay here you will not be disappointed.
